The CBI custody of the former Telecom Minister, A. Raja, in connection with the 2G spectrum scam ended on Thursday, with a court here sending the DMK leader to judicial custody for 14 days.

Coming out of the Patiala House Courts Complex, Mr. Raja told journalists: “I will face the case and prove my innocence.” In its remand application, the Central Bureau of Investigation said investigations were yet to be completed and sought Mr. Raja's remand in judicial custody.

Special Judge (CBI) O.P. Saini also directed the Tihar Central Jail Superintendent to consider an application moved by Mr. Raja's counsel Ramesh Gupta for allowing him home-cooked food, prescribed medicines and reading glasses.

“The accused has a history of acid reflux disorder, irritable syndrome, claustrophobia and other related medical disorders since 2002, for which he has been under medication. Owing to the said medical condition of the applicant, he has been advised to take only home-cooked food along with the medicines prescribed for the medical condition,” Mr. Raja's application said.

Earlier, two other accused — Mr. Raja's former private secretary R.K. Chandolia and the former Telecom Secretary, Siddhartha Behura, — were remanded in judicial custody until February 22.
