The railway ministry should start a helpline for women passengers so that they can complain in case of any emergency, Madhu Bansal, wife of Railways Minister P.K. Bansal, said Tuesday.
With Mr. Bansal about to present the railway budget in parliament, his wife said she wants the railways to ensure cleanliness in trains and safety for women.
“I generally travel between Chandigarh and Delhi and find the journey safe. I feel the railways should have a women helpline so that female passengers can lodge a complaint in case of any problem,” Ms. Madhu Bansal told reporters here.

I don't know what is happening to these politicians. They now-a-days
they quote what their mother told last night and what their wife advice
on how to govern. For god sake, you have a team of very able Bureaucrats.
Why not quote one of them. or as a matter of fact you can say popular
opinion.
as far as regarding help line, I would first request to make it work for
IRCTC.
What is the point of help line if there is no response from other end.
Madam, what help line are you talking about in running train? You are expecting a woman who could be cornered and raped by 3-4 men to go and call a help line(assume you have a phone line in running train which i never heard off even in forreign countries, even mobiles dont work in running train)? Even if they manage to get out on the next station and look for a help line and call police, who themselves might molest her again? Madam you are Minister's wife, you dont know what it is to be a poor or middle class woman in India. You may never learn also.
In india i would rather trust a goon than a police man, this is the shameful situation in India. Tell me how many young woman would dare to enter a police station? Let me know if you count more than 10 in entire India....
Please tell the minister to revamp the police attitude and setup first. Then we dont need any help lines.
