Congress general secretary and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi will launch a five-day ‘jan sampark abhiyan' (public contact campaign) from Barabanki, in Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday.

The campaign will cover Barabanki, Bahraich, Balrampur, Shravasti and Kushinagar districts with one more district likely to be added to the itinerary later.

Pradesh Congress Committee president Rita Bahuguna Joshi told reporters on Sunday that apart from establishing a dialogue with party workers, Mr. Gandhi's programme will include roadside receptions and public meetings in the Assembly segments.

The campaign will end with a district-level public meeting in Kushinagar on November 26. Mr. Gandhi would address 16 or 17 meetings.

Dr. Joshi said representatives from block and district levels of the party, PCC and AICC members will be present at a workers' meeting to be addressed by the Congress general secretary.

The campaign is likely to be extended by a day, she said.
