The BJP on Tuesday sharpened its attack on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and dismissed his accusation that Narendra Modi showed favour to some industrialists in Gujarat.

“It shows poor knowledge of an insulated leader who does not know the ground realities… Rahul Gandhi has little knowledge of India and its States,” party spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said.

“He lives a cocooned life and is now plotting stories to malign the image of Mr. Modi by giving false data.”

Her comments were in reference to Mr. Gandhi’s allegation that Mr. Modi gave land at “throwaway” prices to the Adani Group.

The BJP also released a photograph of Mr. Gandhi riding pillion on a motorcycle with Asif Billa, alleged history-sheeter of Rajasthan.

The picture was in retaliation to the photo put out by the Congress which showed Mr. Modi with Afroz Fatta, accused in hawala racket.
