Rahul Mahajan to head RS TV

Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday cleared the appointment of senior journalist Rahul Mahajan as the editor-in-chief of Rajya Sabha Television.

Mr. Mahajan, 46, currently a consulting editor in Prasar Bharati, was selected by a five-member search-cum-selection committee headed by Prasar Bharati chairman Surya Prakash.

A total of 57 applications were received, out of which 50 were shortlisted for interviews.

Leading channels

Mr. Mahajan has been a journalist for 26 years, starting off with Hindi daily Jansatta. He later branched out to television news.

He worked with leading Hindi television channels such as Aaj Tak, Zee News and Star News.

According to a committee member, Mr. Mahajan was chosen for his more than a decade long experience in covering Parliament proceedings.
