A group of school-children from Punjab, on a tour of the Parliament House, today had a pleasant surprise when they had an interaction with young Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Mr. Gandhi was visibly pleased when some students told him that they were not averse to joining politics.
“We came to see Parliament with our teachers and it was a pleasant surprise that we met Rahulji,” said an excited Siwani, a class X student of Heritage Public School, Bhawanigarh.
There were about 50 children in the group. After witnessing Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, they were waiting outside Parliament when the Amethi MP met them.
“Rahulji asked us whether we would like to join politics after our studies and we said why not, if we get a chance,” Siwani said.
Her classmate Bhawanpreet was equally happy having an interaction with the Gandhi scion. “Rahulji also asked us about our studies and school,” Bhawanpreet said.
Sangrur MP Vijendra Singla, who had organised the school trip, said this was fourth batch of schoolchildren that was coming to see Parliament from his constituency.
“I am bringing these young students to see Parliament and its proceedings. Today, it was a bonus for these children as Rahulji met them here,” Mr. Singla said.
