Targeting the BJP over “corruption” charges against its leaders, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday asked the opposition party what action it took against those facing such allegations.
“We take action wherever there are allegations of corruption. Did they take any action when corruption charges were levelled against them and their leaders. They did not utter even a word,” Mr.Gandhi said in a veiled reference to BJP chief Nitin Gadkari.
Addressing a rally, Mr. Gandhi reminded people that it was Congress, which brought RTI and that it was the BJP, which obstructed the passage of Lokpal bill in the Rajya Sabha.
He also dismissed BJP’s opposition to FDI accusing it of spreading disinformation on the issue. Gandhi said that FDI is for the benefit of the farmers.
“They were not against FDI when their government was in Delhi. Then they wanted to bring a bill on FDI. Now when we are bringing it, they are opposing it only because Congress is doing this.
“Opposition will say MNREGA is wrong, farmers’ loan waiver is wrong, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is wrong and FDI is wrong simply because Congress is doing it,” Mr. Gandhi rued.
He also slammed BJP over the issue of land allotments in the state saying that people complain that their land was sold out arbitrarily and given to outsiders.
Mr. Gandhi, who is tipped to take a “larger role” in the party affairs soon, also chose the occasion to exhort youths to join politics and change it from within.
“As long as you remain out of the system, as long as a new generation does not come in politics, this system cannot change. I want to bring new people, youths and particularly women in politics. States where women joined politics and were conscious developed fast,” Mr. Gandhi said.
He urged people to vote Congress to power in the state and highlighted the problem of “unemployment” in Himachal Pradesh saying “these things have to be changed”.

What action has the Congress taken against Mr.Vadra, Mr.Rahul Gandhi? A piece of
advise to you: don't throw stones sitting in a glass house.
Unbelievable statements, instead of probing the serious corruption charges against most of his own party members Rahul is trying to shift blame and confuse people.
India has seen how his party stands behind and promotes ministers with corruption charges when it gave a more lucrative berth to Kurshid.
I am speechless with admiration for the prince!
The Prince has spoken. He spoke on the evils of corruption with the very person who found over Rs 6 crores in trees and plants. The Prince spoke at length on the corrupt practices of people without naming any. The Prince was scared to take names because the very same people could take the names of Vadra, Salman Khurshid, VBS (tress and plants), Hooda, Raja, CWG and Coalgate.
The Prince wants an election victory very badly however small the victory be. Only an election victory will transform the Prince to King.
The Prince need not worry.
The Congress party (owned by his family) is ready to empty the national treasury for an election victory for the Prince, however small the victory is.
A kid crying for a lollypop. At least Gadkari congress not dared to have a CBI on Vadra assets and land dealings. Why blame BJP, an opposition party when you have full majority to pass the bill. That means majority of the MPs rejected the bill because of its teethless bill. Why didn't he admit we made a teethless bill instead of blaming BJP. Probably they should dissovle the parliament as they do not have the majority and dependent on BJP to make a bill. He is an aritifically made policitian and he could never be a leader unless he knows how to clean corruption. Can this intelligent guy say he will go for election without buying votes? In fact no political party in deed except like Loksatta party I have seen so far.
this can be joke of century!
look he is standing beside the virbhadra!
If all these years of Congress rule has made BJP or anyone straight corrupt, then Congress has indeed achieved the ultimate- that of corrupting the entire country.
In 65 years that's the only achievement congress can lay claim to. All other schemes have gone awry anyway.
now a days we cant rely upon the comments of
any politicians .......as far as RTI act is concerned it was a compulsion for the UPA Govt to pass such act due to the resolution
passed at UNO .....
Ironically the rajkumar of Congress party doesn't understand that congress has not been able to work towards a solution to corruption even after being in power for almost 5 decades since independence. The reality is it serves Congress well to keep people poor and illiterate, system porus & dysfunctional.
