The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday criticised the United Progressive Alliance government for its “shoddy” handling of the extradition of Purulia arms-drop prime accused, Kim Davy, and reiterated its demand for a judicial probe into the entire incident.
Referring to the production of an expired arrest warrant in a Danish court, the party Polit Bureau said this exposed the casual way in which the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was dealing with this vital case.
“The shoddy manner in which the CBI is handling the extradition case of the prime accused Niels Holck alias Kim Davy only strengthens the apprehension that some high-level authorities have something to hide regarding the Purulia arms drop,” the statement said.
Despite Kim Davy's revelation recently of how he escaped from India, the CBI has not investigated the role of the persons named by him.
Commenting on the mistakes made in the list of wanted persons for terrorist activities living in Pakistan, prepared by the Central government, it said this showed the authorities concerned and the Home Ministry in a poor light and compromised India's position in the matter. The party said the government should take action against those responsible for this bungling and reassure the country that security requirements would not be handled in such a cavalier fashion.
