April 21, 2012 01:29 am | Updated November 16, 2021 11:25 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

News and photo services of news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) were affected throughout the country on Friday, as more than1400 employees, working in 60 news bureaus, went on a day-long strike, demanding immediate implementation of the recommendations of the Justice G. R. Majithia Wage Board for journalists and other employees of newspapers/ news agencies.

Federation of PTI Employees' Union's general secretary M. S. Yadav alleged that it was most unfortunate that the PTI management, guided by its boards, comprising the owners of newspapers, had adopted an “anti-workers stance.”

The Federation would continue its fight for implementation of the new wages, which were last revised effective from January 1, 1998, in PTI, he said.
