Policemen detain a Greenpeace activist protesting against the Nuclear Bill near the Parliament House in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Six activists of Greenpeace on Wednesday held a protest outside Parliament House against the Civil Nuclear Liability Bill by climbing some of the lamp posts.

Carrying placards and shouting slogans like “people before profit”, the protestors, including women, assembled at Vijay Chowk this morning.

The protesters also climbed some of the lamp posts and tried to unfurl banners. They were detained by police.

The Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Bill, 2010, is listed for consideration and passing in the Lok Sabha today.

Greenpeace is highly critical of the bill. They were against the cap on the compensation to be paid by the operator in case of an accident.
