The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday said the protest outside BJP headquarters here was an “instant” reaction to former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s detention in Gujarat. The party said this in response to a show cause notice issued by District Election Officer (DEO).
The AAP also rejected allegations that the protest was “planned” and maintained it “respects” the model code of conduct, in force ahead of the Lok Sabha polls scheduled next month. The reply was submitted to DEO Ameya Abhiyankar by AAP general-secretary Pankaj Gupta.
The AAP was served a notice by the DEO for alleged violation of the model code of conduct over Wednesday’s protest outside the BJP headquarters here.
