A court at Devas in Madhya Pradesh has issued a production warrant against Sadhvi Pragnyasingh Thakur, the prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case, for her alleged involvement in the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh activist Sunil Joshi.
“We came to know yesterday [Monday] that a production warrant for March 9 has been issued,” her counsel Rameshwar Gite told The Hindu here.
The Sadhvi was arrested by the Devas police here on February 26 in the case of murder of Joshi, an accused in the Ajmer Sharif and Mecca Masjid bomb blasts and suspect in the Samjhauta Express blast. He was shot dead at Devas on December 29, 2007.
On Tuesday, the Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOC) Court adjourned the hearing on the Sadhvi's bail plea on medical grounds to March 7 as doctors' report of her examination was yet to come in. She has been undergoing treatment at Sir J.J. Hospital here.
While the prosecution alleged that she was not co-operating, defence argued that the investigating agencies had been continuously interrogating her for long hours for the past few days, making it difficult for her to find time for medical tests.
Meanwhile, Special MCOC judge Y.D. Shinde directed Sir J. J. Hospital to appoint psychiatrists to examine the Sadhvi. Defence sought private psychiatric treatment. “She is being questioned by the investigating agencies for hours. A private doctor has volunteered to offer her psychiatric treatment,” Mr. Gite told the court.
But the prosecution said the hospital itself has a separate psychiatric ward, so the Sadhvi should be treated there.
The court directed the hospital to appoint psychiatrists.
The medical and psychiatrists' report will be submitted by March 7.
The Sadhvi is slated to be produced in the Devas court on March 9.
