Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said on Saturday investigations into the Srinagar fidayeen attack, in which five CRPF jawans were killed, had intensified.
Talking to journalists here, Mr. Shinde, who came here on Saturday, said security personnel had secured crucial information regarding the persons who were believed to have accompanied the fidayeen . Information had also been secured of those who had reportedly extended the militants shelter and assistance.
Replying to a question, Mr. Shinde said the investigating agencies had made significant inroads into the Hyderabad bomb blast case and also secured vital leads.
Denying that the security agencies had failed in both cases that rocked the country, he said that in the aftermath of the execution of Kasab and Afzal Guru, the same agencies had alerted all the States about possible terror strikes.
Extolling the United Progressive Alliance chairman Sonia Gandhi for successfully completing 15 years as president of the Congress party, he said it was under her dynamic leadership that the alliance twice seized power at the Centre.
