The Delhi police on Tuesday told a court here that investigations into a complaint against writer Arundhati Roy, hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, revolutionary poet Varavara Rao and four others were progressing. They had allegedly made seditious remarks at a convention on Kashmir organised here in October last.
The station house officer of Tilak Marg police station, Mukesh Walia, who is the investigating officer, told the court that notice under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code had been served on the complainant, Sushil Pandit, seeking his assistance in collection of evidence and investigations.
Metropolitan Magistrate Navita Kumari Bagha directed Mr. Walia to file his next status report in the case by July 4. A plea made by the complainant's lawyer to summon the status report at an earlier date was not granted by the magistrate.
