Price rise: BJP to hold rally in Lucknow

The BJP will hold a rally in Lucknow on February 25, eve of presentation of the Union budget, to protest against rising prices of food grains.

BJP vice-president and in-charge of the committee spearheading the agitation Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the rally was deliberately organised in Lucknow as it is the capital of the most populous State. Senior party leaders, including Rajnath Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi, Vinay Katiyar and Kalraj Mishra, would address the gathering

“Anti-people policies”

Mr. Naqvi said the unchecked rise in prices of essential commodities was the outcome of the Union government’s anti-people polices. Instead of caring for the common man, the Congress was protecting the interests of the “inflationary mafia” and brokers so much so that the government was unable to even give an indication of controlling the price rise before presenting the budget.

“Inflation scam”

After creating awareness among people across the country as part of its nationwide campaign against the “inflation scam,” the BJP would gherao the Parliament on April 21, he said adding the BJP intended to raise the issue inside Parliament.

The party while alleging that some Union Ministers had benefitted from futures trading, had demanded a probe by a joint parliamentary committee into the “price rise scam.”
