The first tweet from President Pranab Mukherjee’s official Twitter handle was posted at 2.30 p.m. and in about five hours, the list of followers had swollen up to over 10,000. On Tuesday President Mukherjee debuted on Twitter with the handle >@RashtrapatiBhvn.

His Office releases information about the President’s engagements through regular updates on these social networking sites.
The profile page of the President’s handle reads; “This is the official Twitter account of Rashtrapati Bhavan and is run by President’s Secretariat. Tweets from the President are signed – President Mukherjee"
On Tuesday, the President’s Office released a picture of Mr. Mukherjee with the winners of national awards, Shilp Guru Awards and Sant Kabir Awards for craftspersons and weavers and quoted, lines from his speech.
