President Pranab Mukherjee has urged the people to celebrate a ‘pollution-free Diwali’ this year.

In his message, the President said: “On the joyous occasion of Diwali, I extend warm greetings and good wishes to my countrymen in India and around the globe. Diwali is a time for festivity and happiness, irrespective of faith and culture. It is an occasion to give happiness to people who are in need and deprived. The diyas lit on the moonless night of Diwali signify the end of the darkness of ignorance and the beginning of light that enlightens all.”

The President advised people to channel their energies towards vanquishing want and suffering and strive hard for collective growth.
