October 06, 2013 01:27 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:08 pm IST - KOCHI:

The Kerala High Court on Saturday completed the preliminary hearing of a petition against Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien in the Suryanelli sex scandal and posted it for orders.

The petition was filed by the victim challenging a lower court order declining to arraign Mr. Kurien as accused in the scandal that took place at Suryanelli in Idukki district in January 1996.

A 16-year-old was threatened, abducted and abused by a bus conductor and then confined and sexually assaulted for 45 days by 42 men.

The victim complained that so far no proper investigation had been conducted against Mr. Kurien and two other accused — Jamal and Unnikrishnan.

Justice P. Bhavadasan before whom the petition came up reserved orders.
