Pranay Sahay is new CRPF chief

October 18, 2012 12:24 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:10 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Pranay Sahay was on Wednesday appointed as the new Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force. The 1975 Batch IPS officer was till now DG of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and holding additional charge of CRPF DG after retirement of K. Vijay Kumar last month.

Mr. Sahay has been appointed as the CRPF chief on a regular basis with effect from the date of his taking over charge of the post and will continue till his superannuation or till furthers orders, the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement. Keeping the two-year track record of Mr. Kumar in mind as the CRPF chief, particularly his handling of Left-wing extremism, the Ministry pushed for his extension for another year, but it was turned down by the Prime Minister’s Office.
