President Pranab Mukherjee hosted a farewell dinner for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Ministers on Saturday night at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Present on the occasion was Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, only invitee from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The a la carte menu had the choicest cuisines. Bengali favourites such as mustard fish and potoler dolma , bedmi aloo , barwa tinda , murg malai tikka and Punjabi kadi-pakora were on offer. The hors d’oeuvres for the special invitees, close to 80 in number, included arbi ke kabab , galaouti kabab and anjeer (fig) ke kofte .
Earlier, Dr. Singh submitted his resignation to the President. He has been asked to function as caretaker Prime Minister until the new government is sworn in. The President received a note on dissolution of the 15th Lok Sabha from Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath.
