Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Thursday demanded the government’s position on the remarks made by Indian Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor who expressed reservation on the en masse integration of the Maoists’ People’s Liberation Army into the Nepal Army.

Mr. Dahal said Gen. Kapoor’s remarks were against the peace process and it meant a clear interference in Nepal’s politics. “The government should demand a clarification,” he said, adding, “else we will have to protest.”

Mr. Dahal on Tuesday told a gathering here that he wished to talk to New Delhi, which played the role of “master” of what he called a “puppet government” in Nepal. On Thursday, he backed those statements by saying: “If we ended foreign interference then we can also end the present political stalemate.”
