Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has no cash in hand and no liabilities either. He possesses assets worth Rs. 11.40 crore that include immovable property worth Rs 7.52 crore.
Dr. Singh made this declaration in an affidavit he furnished along with the nominations he filed on Wednesday as a Rajya Sabha candidate from Assam.
The affidavit said the gross value of his movable assets was Rs. 3,87,63,188 and they include a Maruti 800 of 1996 make (purchased for Rs. 2,40787, present value Rs. 21,033), fixed deposits in banks and investments in National Savings Schemes.
His immoveable assets include a 2907 square feet double storey house in Chandigarh on a 4498.5-square feet plot that he purchased in 1987 for Rs. 8,62,000. Its approximate current value is Rs. 4,92,50,000.
Dr. Singh also owns a 1495.53-square feet flat in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, that he bought in 1991 for Rs. 4,18,100. Its approximate current value is Rs. 2.60 crore.
His wife Gursharan Kaur’s movable assets include Rs. 16,62,570 in savings and 150.8 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs. 3,45,332.
