Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday condoled the death of former union minister and senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Yerrannaidu in an accident and described him as a “distinguished parliamentarian and personality”.
“I have learned with profound sorrow about the tragic demise of Yerrannaidu in a road accident. In his death, we have lost a distinguished parliamentarian and political personality who made a valuable contribution to public life in Andhra Pradesh and India,” the prime minister said.
“My heart goes out in sympathy to the members of the bereaved family” he added.
Yerran Naidu, 55, was killed when the car he was travelling in hit an oil tanker ahead of it near Ranasthalam in Srikakulam district, about 700 km from Hyderabad, around 2 a.m.
A profusely bleeding Naidu was shifted to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Srikakulam town, where doctors failed in their efforts to resuscitate him. He was declared dead around 3.30 a.m.
He served as union minister for rural development and employment in the United Front government from 1996 to 1998.

It was a very sad news in the early hours of Friday that Mr.Yarranna, TDP Politbuero member was no more. It was shocked much that the loss of his precious life due to un availability of Oxygen in the patrol ambulance vehicle. If Oxygen available in the ambulance he might have saved. Any it was irreparable loss to the people of backward classes, North Andhra people and particularly to the TDP. Mr. Yerranna was not only state leader, he was a National leader representing the state on behalf of the TDP, and he was very influenced leader at the time National Front coalition Government. He was best confidential leder to the TDP president Mr. Chandrababu Naidu. He was done everything in delhi on behalf of the TDP and he was known to the every political leader at Delhi irrespective of political affiliations. Any how we cannot stop the destiny, we prayy the peace to the departed sole and deepest condolences to his family and followers.
