Agreeing to hear the plea, a bench of Justices T.S. Thakur and Gyan Sudha Misra, however, pulled up Retired Army Officer Bakshi for moving the court so late

Hours before the deadline set by Maoists for release of their jailed members in exchange of an abducted Orissa MLA, a retired Army officer on Wednesday approached the Supreme Court to restrain the state government from meeting Maoists’ demands.

Major General (retd) Gangurdep Bakshi pleaded with the apex court that the state government should be restrained from releasing the Maoists as they were captured by security forces, which had to put their lives on stake to nab them.

Mr. Bakshi, a counter-terrorism operations expert, submitted that his petition be given urgent hearing as the deadline set by the Maoists would come to an end on Wednesday at 5 pm.

Agreeing to hear his plea, a bench of Justices T.S. Thakur and Gyan Sudha Misra, however, pulled up Mr. Bakshi for moving the court so late.

“You can’t come at the eleventh hour and plead for urgent hearing,” the bench said.

The apex court further said it would require the help of the Centre’s law officer in the matter and listed the matter for hearing on Thursday.

I hope the Maoist will not harm the tribal MLA even if the government do not release the Maoists those who are in various jail. At this point of time the government is doing right thing because once the jailed maoists released then again they involve in the violent activities. So i think it is better not to release them. The common people those who are kept in jail they should be released with certain conditions like they should again participate in such violent activities and should not be in touch with the maoists. And what i personally think is it is a political game playing between the Odisha government and the maoists. If the government released them then again the tribal people go and kill the dalit people in Narayan Patna block. They should at least go for an investigation that actually who are the people taken the lands of the tribals? It is only the dalits or any other communities? Then this problems can be easily solved.
