Petrol, diesel prices go up

May 31, 2013 11:22 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 10:11 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Petrol price was increased on Friday by 75 paisa a litre and diesel price by 50 paisa as the rupee hit an 11-month low, making oil imports costlier.

The increase, excluding local sales or value-added taxes, came into effect from midnight, Indian Oil Corporation said. Petrol price in Delhi was increased by 90 paisa to Rs. 63.99. Diesel would cost Rs. 50.25 as against Rs. 49.69 at present.

The oil companies cut the price of cooking gas (LPG), which consumers have to buy beyond their quota of nine subsidised cylinders a year, by Rs. 45 a bottle. Non-subsidised domestic LPG in Delhi will cost Rs. 802 a 14.2-kg cylinder.
