A public interest litigation petition was filed in the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court on Monday, seeking the filing of an FIR against the Trust run by Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid and his wife Louise, in the wake of allegations of funds misappropriation.
The petition, filed by Uttar Pradesh-based social activist Nutan Thakur through her counsel Ashok Pandey, sought the court’s monitoring of the inquiry done by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of police. The petition also seeks to direct the Principal Secretary and the EOW to lodge an FIR on the basis of primary investigation conducted by the Viklang Kalyan Department and the Social Welfare Department.
Dr. Thakur told The Hindu that as soon as the case of forged documents and anomalies in the use of funds by the Trust came to light, investigation should have begun. The probe order was issued in June but even now no FIR had been lodged.
