Pawar is fine, says NCP

March 28, 2013 11:39 pm | Updated 11:39 pm IST - Mumbai:

The Nationalist Congress Party on Thursday dismissed adverse rumours about the health of its president Sharad Pawar, saying “Mr. Pawar is in excellent condition and now on his scheduled tour of Karnataka.”

Mr. Pawar was compelled to call off his visit to Sangli district on Sunday last, where he was to share the dais with Samajwadi president Mulayam Singh, following a drop in his blood sugar levels. He arrived in Pune to take rest after presiding over a ‘sarpanch mahaparishad’ in Kolhapur district.

Since then, rumours have been circulating about his health, causing consternation among partymen.

NCP State unit president Madhukar Pichad said, “In the past few days, there have been rumours and misleading information about his health, creating concern among the party activists. I appeal to all to guard against such baseless rumours.”

The NCP chief was on a scheduled tour of some southern regions, including Bangalore, Udhagamandalam and Mysore, party spokesman Nawab Malik said.
