The nation’s firm resolve to meet the continuing threat of terrorism head-on and emerge victorious in the battle will be expressed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday to remember and mark the horrific events that unfolded in Mumbai this day last year.

Speaker of the Lok Sabha Meira Kumar is expected to read a four to five paragraph resolution, which will then be adopted unanimously and without discussion by the House to mark 26/11. The resolution will send a strong message to the country that the country remains united and firm, politically and emotionally, on the issue of terrorism, and will not be cowed down by the kind of senseless and barbaric violence that terrorism stands for.

A similar resolution is expected to be adopted in the Rajya Sabha.

Apparently, there will be no reference to Pakistan, but the resolution will talk about the threat from terrorism being global and the fact that India alone is not a victim of this menace.

The House will also salute the memory of all the brave men and women — civilians and those from the security forces that took on the intruders — who died during the attacks.
