Parliament session likely from November 22

November 01, 2011 03:21 am | Updated November 17, 2021 12:49 am IST - New Delhi:

The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs decided on Monday to recommend to the President that the winter session of Parliament commence on November 22 and end on December 23.

The just over-a-month-long session would hopefully see some important legislation being passed, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal indicated.

Although he did not mention any bill, senior ministers have said that the government intended to get the Lokpal Bill passed this session.

This has become an imperative for all political parties as several State Assembly elections are due early next year and the Anna Hazare group has already threatened to campaign against any political party that comes in the way of enacting a strong Lokpal Bill.
