Both Houses adjourned

As the first two days of second leg of Budget session passed off without taking up any business due to Opposition protests seeking statement from Prime Minister on the Punjab National Bank fraud, both Houses have listed short duration discussion on the issue.

Rajya Sabha is also likely to take up a discussion on the working of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.

Besides, Lok Sabha has listed discussion and voting on grant to Railways.

Rajya Sabha reassembles. Deputy Chairman is in the Chair.

Some members display placards. Chair objects to it. Sloganeering continues.

House adjourned for the day.

12:00 noon

Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day. A visibly upset Speaker Sumitra Mahajan left the House amid the din, reports PTI.

11:10 am

As Minister C.R. Chaudhury raises to make a statement, he is stopped by members. "I am ready to permit all discussion, provided the House in order," Mr. Naidu says.

You were sent here to discuss and debate, not to do like this, he says and adjourns the House till 2 pm.

11:00 am

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu says he saw media reports on statues being vandalised in some parts of the country. "This is mad," he says condemning the act and asking for stern action against the culprits.

Rajya Sabha assembles. Members mourn the death of Dr. Jinendra Kumar Jain, a former member of the House.

Lok Sabha adjourned even before it is assembled.
