For the 10th day, both Houses of Parliament could not transact any business on Tuesday, with the BJP continuing to disrupt the proceedings seeking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s resignation on the coal blocks allocation issue.

Members of the DMK, AIADMK, CPI and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi demanded that the government send back Sri Lankan defence personnel undergoing training in India. They also opposed the proposed visit of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to Madhya Pradesh.

Amid the din, the Rajya Sabha passed the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2012 for establishing six AIIMS-like institutes in different cities, and the Lok Sabha approved the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bangalore, Bill 2012.
