Parliament was disrupted on Wednesday as the Samajwadi Party sought the resignation of Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma, while DMK and AIADMK members raised the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.

Both Houses were first adjourned till noon amid ruckus, with members from SP, DMK and AIADMK targeting the government.

When the Lok Sabha reassembled at noon, SP members were again on their foot demanding Mr. Verma’s ouster from the government.

The SP was backed by opposition leader Sushma Swaraj, who said the Steel Minister should resign immediately.

Deputy Speaker Kariya Munda then adjourned the House till 12.30, and then for the day.

The Rajya Sabha meanwhile also saw vocal protests by members of the three parties who trooped near the chairman’s podium.

Renuka Choudhary, who was in chair, adjourned the House till 3 p.m.
