Actor and Member of Parliament Paresh Rawal's tweet against author and activist Arundhati Roy that said she ought to be tied to the front of an Army jeep in Kashmir has sparked an outrage on the social media, with many condemning it. He was a trending topic on Twitter for most of Monday morning.
Mr. Rawal was referring to the incident in Kashmir in April when a man was tied to the front of an Army Jeep and used as a 'human shield'. The Army is currently investigating the incident.
He also agreed with a tweet from another user who suggested that in the absence of Ms. Roy, one could use veteran journalist Sagarika Ghose. "We have a wide variety of choices!," tweeted Mr. Rawal.
Congress leader Digvijaya Singh too chimed in.
However, a majority of Indian social media seemed to agree with Mr. Rawal.
