Pakistan keen on starting trade talks

June 27, 2010 02:02 am | Updated 02:02 am IST - Toronto:

Pakistan is keen to start Commerce Secretary-level talks, said a senior Indian official on Saturday. India-Pakistan trade has the potential to go up to about $10 billion annually.

Pakistan has not granted India Most Favoured Nation Status yet. Asked if this was at all likely, the official said it was an important part of the process of normalisation of relations.

The official said the Pakistani approach to India had undergone a subtle change since the February Foreign Secretary-level talks and become softer now at least as far as the language being used is concerned.
