The Mumbai-Pune expressway claimed yet another victim in a bizarre fashion on Wednesday after a 20-year-old student fell to his death near the Khandala Ghat while allegedly clicking a selfie, said police sources.

The youth, identified as Tanwel Kadam, hailed from Malegaon in Nashik district. While a probe is on to ascertain the exact cause of his death, the police said Kadam might have lost his balance and fell to his death from the Amrutanjan bridge near the Khandala Ghat section of the expressway.

The expressway has witnessed accidents of all sorts in recent times with at least 17 people being killed on the spot after a luxury bus reportedly hit two cars before crashing into a 20-foot ditch early this month.

Last month, noted city-based real estate developer D.S. Kulkarni, the Chairman and Managing Director of the DSK Group, had a narrow escape when his Toyota Land Cruiser rammed into a trailer on the Mumbai-Pune expressway, killing his driver instantly.
