Yogendra Yadav cancels press meet

March 03, 2015 12:50 am | Updated May 23, 2016 06:52 pm IST - CHANDIGARH:

The scheduled press conference of the Aam Aadmi Party national spokesperson and Haryana in-charge Yogendra Yadav at Panchkula near here was cancelled on Monday, ostensibly due to fickle weather.

However, the party State spokesperson here shared various posts on his WhatsApp page on the defence put forth by Mr. Yadav over the controversy surrounding him and various statements in his support.

Mr. Yadav was to meet the media over the Jai Kisaan Abhiyaan launched by him in Haryana last month to protest against the anti-farmer policies of the BJP governments at the Centre and in the State. But a statement issued by the party said that “due to bad weather, our volunteers from villages are finding it difficult to join us,” hence, after discussion with the State leadership, the protest march was being cancelled as was the press conference.

Denies role in conspiracy

State party spokesperson Rajeev Godara shared the statement released by Mr. Yadav to state that a slander campaign was going on against him in the party and he had no role to play in conspiring to dislodge party convener Arvind Kejriwal from his post.
