Yet another BJP team to leave for West Bengal

To assess the attack on party workers in the State

A team of BJP leaders will leave for West Bengal on Sunday to assess the violence against its party workers in the State that has left one dead and several injured.

This is the second time that a team is being sent from Delhi to assess the situation in West Bengal.

On Thursday, BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh told The Hindu that a team of leaders has been instructed by party president Rajnath Singh to visit Birbhum to document the violence at Kanur village on June 7 in which party worker Seikh Rahim lost his life.

The BJP has accused the Trinamool Congress of unleashing terror in the State and attacking its supporters. “We want to expose the double standards of Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee. On one hand, she is unleashing terror on Indian Muslims and on the other hand she is helping Bangladeshi Muslims. Our supporters from the Muslim community in West Bengal, particularly in Sandeshkhali, have been targeted by the Trinamool,” he said. Mr. Siddharth Nath Singh, who led a team to assess the violence in the State in May, will present a report on the incidents to the Union Home Ministry on Friday.
