Cutting across party lines various trade union members will ‘court arrest’ tomorrow in Madhya Pradesh.

Around 40,000 workers affiliated to major trade unions — Congress controlled Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), BJP’s Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) and leftists’ Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) and All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) will court arrest across the state on Thursday, the union leaders told reporters here.

“We have joined hands and are going to court arrest against rising prices of essential commodities, investment in public sector, rising unemployment, violation of labour laws and other things in Madhya Pradesh on March 4,” they said.

“Members of all the workers’ bodies will court arrest on March five in the country, but as ‘Rangpanchami’ is played on this date in Madhya Pradesh, the protest has been advanced a day ahead in the State,” they said.

BMS State General Secretary Sultan Singh Shekawat, INTUC State Secretary Ramraj Tiwari, AITUC State General Secretary Roopsingh Chauhan, CITU State General Secretary Pramod Pradhan said they were all one in registering protest against the Centre’s anti-poor and anti-employees policies.
