Woman held for recce at Silda camp

A woman Maoist squad member, who, disguised as a dancer, carried out a reconnaissance of the Eastern Frontier Rifles' Silda camp in Paschim Medinipur district prior to the massacre of 24 jawans there in February, was arrested from Lakhanpur forest in the district on Friday.

According to the police, Sambari Hansda alias Seema had entered the camp along with two other dancers on the morning of February 15, the day the killings took place.

“She made a reconnaissance of the camp and the preparedness of the security personnel while dancing and collecting money,” SP Manoj Kumar Verma said.
