With the dust yet to settle down on the Badaun gang rape and murder, another shocking incident of a woman being gang-raped allegedly by a Station House Officer and two constables on the station premises has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district.

Sub-inspector Rahul Pandey was arrested but the constables absconded.

The incident took place on Sumerpur police station premises on Monday night.

The arrests were made on Wednesday after a complaint was registered with the Hamirpur Superintendent of Police, V.K. Shekhar by the victim. A police spokesman said the victim had gone to the station to meet her husband, who had been arrested and put in lock-up.

It is alleged that Mr. Pandey demanded a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the victim for her husband’s release.

She was taken to the SHO’s quarters behind the station at 1 a.m. and allegedly gang-raped by the three policemen.
