Woman cop arrested on graft charges

Balasore zone vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested woman police inspector Mamata Pati, who was Inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Badasahi police station of Mayurbhanj district, for demanding and accepting bribe money of Rs 5,000 from a local villager.

Mamata had demanded the money from the villager as bribe to provide the latter a copy of his own FIR.

Following a complaint made by the villager, the vigilance sleuths had set up a trap to apprehend the corrupt woman police officer red-handed, said a release issued by the vigilance directorate here adding that Mamata’s house is under search as part of further investigation.
