Claiming that West Bengal will become a flag-bearer of development for the entire world, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday, said that the politics of strikes and protests would not be allowed in the State.

“This kind of politics to stall development has been prevalent in the State for a long time. It will not be allowed now. West Bengal will see development. Keep the State working,” Ms. Banerjee said at an event organised on the eve of one year of the Trinamool Congress-led government in the State.

On the occasion, Ms. Banerjee released two books — Hope to reality and its vernacular equivalent Pratysaya Thike Parpti , a compilation of achievements of one year of her government.

In the book, she has also criticised her opponents by saying that the “new-born government is subjected to relentless and baseless malice and planned maligning.”
