WCD sanctions Rs 6,552.35 lakh for children home maintenance

The Ministry of Women and Child Development on Tuesday told the Lok Sabha that it has sanctioned Rs 6,552.35 lakh for maintenance of children homes across the country in 2013-14.

Tamil Nadu has got the highest sanction of Rs 1,678.74 lakh, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh at Rs 975.17 and 704.83 lakh respectively, it said.

Karnataka got Rs 457.25 lakh, Rajasthan Rs 370.59 and Maharashtra Rs 313.47 lakh.

The ministry said it is providing the financial assistance under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS).

In 2012-13, the ministry had sanctioned Rs 15,308.51 lakh, it was Rs 8,951.10 lakh in 2011-12 and Rs 6,112.30 lakh in 2010-11.
