Vinod Kumar Duggal sworn in Manipur Governor

Vinod Kumar Duggal, a former Union Home Secretary, was sworn in as the Governor of Manipur on Tuesday in a simple function held at the Raj Bhavan. Chief Justice of the Manipur High court Lakshmi Kanta Mahapatra administered the oath of office to Mr. Duggal.

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, other Ministers, high police and civil officials were present in the swearing-in ceremony. The newly sworn-in Governor greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of the New Year. He hoped that there would be peace and communal harmony among the people in the coming years.

He said that he would do everything possible within the framework of the Constitution for the welfare of the people.

Ashwani Kumar, Governor of Nagaland, had been additionally looking after the affairs of Manipur after the retirement of Gurubachan Jagat.
