Villagers beat leopard to death

Villagers beat an adult female leopard to death in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal on Saturday. The leopard, which had strayed from a forest to the Premganj area, had attacked four persons, including a forest guard, during the day.

“The leopard was attacked by villagers with sticks. Before forest guards could rescue it, the animal died,” Divisional Forest Officer, Jalpaiguri, Sumita Ghatak told The Hindu over telephone .
