Vikramaditya Singh resigns from PDP

Ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) MLC Vikramaditya Singh resigned from the party on Sunday, levelling allegations that “the party has disregard for the demands and aspirations of Jammu region”.

“In the last several months, the views I publicly expressed in particular about Jammu have not been in harmony of the party line. It’s no longer possible for me to be part of a party that continues to disregard the demands and aspirations of Jammu region,” wrote Mr. Singh in his resignation letter addressed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

Mr. Singh, grandson of the last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh, said the PDP “disagreed” with him on the question of “illegal settlement of Rohingyas in J&K, inclusion of the period pertaining to the Dogra rule in school textbooks and the demand for a public holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh.
