National Games Organising Committee working chairman R.K. Anand was on Monday questioned by Jharkhand Vigilance Bureau in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the purchase of equipment for the 34th National Games held in February.

Mr. Anand, who appeared before the Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) P.K. Karn, said he was summoned to appear before it but refused to divulge any details.

He, however, replied in the affirmative when asked whether he was grilled by the Vigilance officer.

The general Secretary of Jharkhand Wrestling Association, had complained with the vigilance bureau last year and accused Mr. Anand, NGOC’s organising secretary H.M. Hashmi, Treasurer Madhukant Pathak and former sports director P.C. Mishra of financial irregularities in the purchase of equipment for the games.

Based on his complaint, the Vigilance Bureau filed an FIR on October 6 and conducted raids on the premises of some of the NGOC office bearers.
