Several parents, who were duped in lakhs by promising admission to their wards in top management schools, have alleged police laxity in arresting the culprits even after seven months of filing of FIRs.
The accused had allegedly duped Rs. 49 lakhs in all from gullible parents on the pretext getting their children admitted to prestigious management institutes in Mumbai last year.
Five victims had lodged separate FIRs against five persons in August last year with Jyoti Nagar police station here and had approached senior police officials and judiciary to intervene into the matter.
FIRs are registered against Raghuraj Rathore, his father J.S. Rathore and uncle C.K. Rathore, all from the city, and the duo Shashi Shekhar Sharma and Sumit Sharma of Patna.
“I was promised admission for my son in Mumbai by Rathore and his accomplices. I paid Rs. 7 lakh as donation and in return was given a forged admission letter and other documents,” J.P. Duwa, a complainant told PTI .
“After we reached Mumbai for admission to the institute in June last year, Rathore informed us that we had been cheated by Shekhar and Sumit,” he said.
“No action has been taken so far by the police and the accused are roaming free and staying in their home near the Jyoti Nagar police station where the FIRs filed against them.
According to him, two of the accused Raghuraj and J.S. Rathore had approached Rajasthan High Court to quash these FIRs but the court rejected the petitions last month.
When contacted, SHO Lakhan Singh who is investigating the case was not available for comment.
