The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has got its name registered in the Guinness Book of World Records for measuring the blood pressure of over 8,000 people in a matter of just eight hours.

The civic body had achieved the feat on April 7, 2013 on the occasion of the World Health Day. A team of 227 doctors were part of the exercise in which blood pressure of 8,368 people was counted.

Adjudicator Lucia Sinigaliesi, who presented the certificate to city mayor Bharat Shah and municipal commissioner Manish Bhardwaj on Friday night, congratulated both of them on the achievement.

Before this, the record was held by Philippines, which had recorded the blood pressure of 8,026 persons in eight hours, official sources said.

Talking to PTI , Mr. Bhardwaj said, “We succeeded in achieving the target of measuring the blood pressure of 8,368 persons for which the event had been held at a stadium located in Akota area of the city.”
