Expressing displeasure over the slow progress in implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) in the state, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank on Wednesday said that he would himself review the scheme every fortnight and take action against the erring officials.
During a meeting with senior officials here, the Chief Minister also asked the Chief Secretary I K Pande to produce details regarding NREGA, that is the total budget received from Centre, amount alloted to districts, work done in those districts and number of beneficiaries.
Mr. Nishank also directed him to convene a meeting of Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of every department and regularly review the progress of various developmental schemes.
The CM also expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of construction work being done for Mahakumbh Mela, scheduled to be held in Haridwar early next year. In this regard, he directed the Mela official to complete the work in time without compromising with quality.
